High-precision Cartography Bilbao and Donostia Hydro International
AZTI-Tecnalia, Spain, has presented the cartography for the sea beds off the coast at the Basque cities of Donostia-San Sebastián and Bilbao. The high-precision material is aimed at use for fishing and leisure, such as scuba diving, surfing or recreational fishing. The project was financed by the Department of the Environment, Land Planning Territorial, Agriculture and Fisheries of the Basque Government.
Oil-spill Response Vessels Launched Hydro International
Alnmaritec has delivered two boats in the oil-spill and pollution control market. The most recent delivery was a boom deployment and spill response boat Response 1 to the Barbados National Terminal Company for operation on their oil export facility at Oistins Bay on the South Coast of the island. This delivery follows completion of a high-speed pollution response boat which is operated by PetroChina on a refinery at Dalian in Eastern China.

Students Map Grand Traverse Bay Hydro International
Local students of Northwestern Michigan College's Water Studies Institute, USA, contribute a month mapping the bottom of Grand Traverse Bay in the second phase of the Grand Traverse Bay Hydrographic Research Project. The data will result in the first new maps in 80 years. This underwater mapping project which started last summer in the Traverse City area is continuing this year.

Further Clues about Subsurface Oil Movements Hydro International
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) have released its second peer-reviewed, analytical summary report about subsurface oil monitoring in the Gulf of Mexico. The report contains preliminary data collected at 227 sampling stations extending from one to 52 kilometres from the Deepwater Horizon/BP wellhead. Data shows movement of subsurface oil is consistent with ocean currents and that concentrations continue to be more diffuse as you move away from the source of the leak. This confirms the findings of the previous report.
Marisoft Inspection Package Sales Hydro International
MariSoft, Egypt, has made integrated software sales to subsea cable specialists, Offshore Marine Management's (OMM) survey services section. OMM has utilised Inspector and HydroChart on all their projects to date including the recent Barrow and Burbo offshore wind farm scopes of work and also for the Transpower HVAC cable installation and associated survey, WROV and trenching operations due to start in August 2010.
